Funday Games is on the lookout for a UX/UI Designer!
We usually respond within two weeks
We’re looking for a UX Designer with strong 2D UI competencies to join our team and help shape the player experience on one of our exciting unannounced projects. If you love working with games, care deeply about usability and clarity, and enjoy crafting UI that supports both moment-to-moment gameplay and long-term progression, we’d love to hear from you.
The position is initially a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension. We’re also open to working with freelancers.
What you will be working on:
As a UI/UX Designer, you’ll be the one responsible for the overall UI/UX and play a key role in shaping how players interact with and experience the game. The project is already well underway, and we’re now looking for someone who can help translate existing ideas, systems, and mechanics into interfaces that feel clear, cohesive, and satisfying to use.
You’ll work across both in-game UI and meta systems, collaborating closely with designers, artists, programmers, and the Lead Artist to balance player needs, visual identity, and technical realities - always with the goal of making the game feel great to play.
As a UI/UX Designer at Funday your job will include tasks such as:
Designing, creating and iterating on UI/UX for menus, HUDs, systems, and in-game flows
Creating wireframes, user flows, mockups, and prototypes to explore and communicate ideas
Ensuring consistency, clarity, and usability across the entire game experience
Collaborating closely with game designers, artists, and programmers to ensure strong implementation
Testing, evaluating, and refining designs based on feedback, playtests, and usability insights
Balancing visual appeal with accessibility, performance, and technical constraints
Helping define and maintain UI guidelines, patterns, and documentation
Who you are:
We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer with hands-on experience working with games and complex systems. Professionally, you:
Have proven experience as a UI/UX Designer on games
Have experience creating 2D concept art and illustrations for stylized sprite UI assets and icons.
Have a strong understanding of UX principles, usability, and player-centered design
Are skilled in Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Have experience working in Unity, including UI implementation
Can clearly communicate and explain your design decisions across disciplines
Have a portfolio showcasing UI/UX work for games
Experience with Unity UI Toolkit is a plus
Experience with Blender or other 3D software is a plus
On a more personal level, you:
Care about players and advocate for clarity, accessibility, and ease of use
Take pride in your craft while keeping the team and shared goals front and center
Stay calm and constructive when things change or designs need to evolve
Are curious, thoughtful, and open to feedback and iteration
Communicate easily with all types of people and professions
Are kind, enjoy collaborating and believe great experiences are built together
What we offer:
We offer a full-time position for an initial six-month period, starting as soon as possible, with the possibility of extension. If you work as a freelancer, we’re also open to exploring the possibility of a collaboration. At Funday, we have a hybrid setup which makes it possible to work from home. We offer pension, health insurance and six weeks of paid holiday - making sure that you have time off to recharge. Besides covering simple needs like great lunch, fruit, snacks and loads of coffee, we also offer a fun and creative work environment with the most awesome people.
Who we are:
Funday Games is an experienced games studio based in the heart of Aarhus trusted by partners like Ghost Ship Games, SYBO Games, Apple and many more. We are 50 digital savvy people specialised in games.
Our four core values - think big, stay curious, have fun, and be kind - are at the heart of who we are at Funday. They shape both our strategic direction and our daily interactions at the office. That’s why it’s important for us to find a new colleague who not only brings strong skills, but who also connects with these values and wants to help us nurture them in everything we do.
At Funday, we go to work to produce the greatest games of the highest possible quality - always with our players in the driver's seat. But that’s only half the reason. We go to work to have fun. A lot of fun so if you like informal environments filled with creative and technical expertise - and where slippers and Star Wars t-shirts are much more common than suits and ties, you’ll fit right in.
Finally, if you can slightly see yourself in this role - we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need to tick every single box. At Funday, we care deeply about building diverse, inclusive teams where different perspectives and backgrounds are valued and welcomed.
So don’t hesitate - send us your application, even if you’re not sure you’re “exactly right.” You just might be the person we didn’t know we needed yet 💛
