Funday Games is looking for a Game Director!
We usually respond within two weeks
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Game Director to help steer one of our unannounced projects from early concept through launch (and beyond). If you’re comfortable balancing creative ambitions with production realities, player needs, and commercial goals - and you enjoy collaborating closely with others to build great games - we’d love to hear from you!
What you will be working on:
As Game Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping and guiding the game towards success - creatively, strategically, and culturally - throughout the entire development process. You’ll help create clarity and direction for the team while leaving space for collaboration, curiosity, and inputs across disciplines. From early ideas and alignment with internals and externals to tough decisions and shared wins, you’ll work closely with the team to help the game grow into something that feels meaningful - while keeping players, partners, and people in mind and on track every step of the way.
As a Game Director at Funday your job will include tasks such as:
Creating, owning and clearly communicating the creative vision for the game, both internally and externally
Guiding the team toward clear goals, priorities, and a shared understanding of “what we’re creating and why”
Working closely with partners and stakeholders around an external IP, ensuring alignment and trust
Aligning design direction with player expectations, market insights, and business objectives
Supporting designers, artists and programmers, and helping each discipline do their best
Making thoughtful, timely decisions, even when information is incomplete or trade-offs are required
Protecting scope, quality, and team health throughout development
Representing the project within the studio and externally when needed
Who you are:
We’re looking for a Game Director with a strong foundation in both creative direction and real-world production. Professionally, you:
Have proven experience as a Game Director, Creative Director or a similar leadership role
Have hands-on experience working with or overseeing development on an external IP
Have experience with shipped titles on PC, console, mobile - or a mix
Have a strong understanding of game development realities, constraints, and trade-offs
On a more personal level, you:
Are comfortable making decisions and helping the team move forward, even when the path isn’t completely clear
Are kind, a team player and truly believe that two minds are better than one
Communicate easily with all types of people and professions
Stay calm and grounded and help others do the same when plans change
Communicate openly and clearly, and value honest conversations and constructive feedback
Put the team first - celebrating shared successes and treating mistakes as opportunities to learn
What we offer:
We offer you a full time job starting around April 1st with lots of opportunities to take on responsibility and challenges in a company where two days aren’t the same. At Funday, we have a hybrid setup which makes it possible to work from home. We offer pension, health insurance and six weeks of paid holiday - making sure that you have time off to recharge. Besides covering simple needs like great lunch, fruit, snacks and loads of coffee, we also offer a fun and creative work environment with the most awesome people.
Who we are:
Funday Games is an experienced games studio based in the heart of Aarhus trusted by partners like Ghost Ship Games, SYBO Games, Apple and many more. We are 50 digital savvy people specialised in games.
Our four core values - think big, stay curious, have fun, and be kind - are at the heart of who we are at Funday. They shape both our strategic direction and our daily interactions at the office. That’s why it’s important for us to find a new colleague who not only brings strong skills, but who also connects with these values and wants to help us nurture them in everything we do.
At Funday, we go to work to produce the greatest games of the highest possible quality - always with our players in the driver's seat. But that’s only half the reason. We go to work to have fun. A lot of fun so if you like informal environments filled with creative and technical expertise - and where slippers and Star Wars t-shirts are much more common than suits and ties, you’ll fit right in.
Finally, if you can slightly see yourself in this role – we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need to tick every single box. At Funday, we care deeply about building diverse, inclusive teams where different perspectives and backgrounds are valued and welcomed.
So don’t hesitate – send us your application, even if you’re not sure you’re “exactly right.” You just might be the person we didn’t know we needed yet 💛
