Are you our new Game Programmer?
We usually respond within two weeks
Are you the kind of programmer who thrives on turning early ideas into playable experiences and helping shape the technical foundation of a new project? Well, then you might just be the next member of Funday, as we’re on the lookout for a Game Programmer who loves (to make) games just as much as we do.
Who you are:
We’re looking for an experienced Game Programmer to take on a key role in the early development of a new partner game production on an already existing IP. You’ll work closely with our Game Director to help establish the project, define the technical direction, and build scalable gameplay systems from scratch. Therefore, you’ll need to have a deep knowledge of Unity and C# and preferably a strong track record of shipped PC titles. As you’ll be joining a small team as the first Game Programmer, you feel comfortable taking technical responsibility, and you enjoy being a driving force in early-stage game development. We believe in small teams for better, quicker and more agile development which is why you’ll be a great fit if you’re comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where progress and adaptability are key words. Most importantly for us is that you understand what it takes to bring games from concept to release - not just writing code, but helping shape architecture, workflows and production direction along the way.
Professionally, you:
Have great experience with Unity and C#
Have worked on (and shipped) multiple game titles for PC (and maybe even consoles and mobile)
Have experience working on already existing games/IPs and understand how to navigate stakeholders while staying true to known universes
Write clean, maintainable and scalable code
Have strong understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles and software architecture
Have experience developing games from scratch through production and release
Are comfortable being the primary programmer on a project
Are able to develop compelling user experiences for PC
Have experience creating tools for game designers on the team
Have experience with gameplay systems, tools development and production pipelines.
On a more personal level, you:
Take ownership and responsibility naturally and thrive in environments where you can organize and structure your own work
Are proactive, structured and solution-oriented
Have a pragmatic mindset and the drive to collaborate, innovate and learn
Are a team player and truly believe that two minds are better than one
Have a keen eye for detail, and when you stumble upon challenges, you quickly reach out to a colleague for input or advice
Communicate easily with all kinds of people and professions
Would love to help nurture the fun environment at Funday
What we offer:
We offer you a full time job starting around September 1st with lots of opportunities for taking on responsibility and challenges in a company where two days aren’t the same. At Funday, we have a hybrid setup which makes it possible to work from home up to three days a week - the other two will be at our office in Aarhus. If you live in a galaxy far, far away, we also offer the possibility of working remotely - with visits in Aarhus from time to time. We offer pension, health insurance and six weeks of paid holiday - making sure that you have time off to recharge. Besides covering simple needs like great lunch, fruit, snacks and loads of coffee, we also offer a fun and creative work environment with the most awesome people.
Who we are:
Funday Games is an experienced games studio based in the heart of Aarhus trusted by partners like Ghost Ship Games, Shiro Games, Apple and many more. We’re 50+ people who live and breathe games - and genuinely love what we do.
Our four core values - think big, stay curious, have fun and be kind - are at the heart of who we are at Funday. They shape both our strategic direction and our daily interactions at the office. That’s why it’s important for us to find a new colleague who not only brings strong skills, but who also connects with these values and wants to help us nurture them in everything we do.
At Funday, we go to work to produce the greatest games of the highest possible quality - always with our players in the driver's seat. But that’s only half the reason. We go to work to have fun. A lot of fun. So if you like informal environments filled with creative and technical expertise - and where slippers and Star Wars t-shirts are much more common than suits and ties, you’ll fit right in.
Finally, if you slightly see yourself in this role – we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to tick every single box. In Funday, we care deeply about building diverse, inclusive teams where different perspectives, opinions, skills and backgrounds are valued and welcomed.
So don’t hesitate to apply - even if you’re not sure you’re “exactly right.” You might just be the exact person we’re looking for 💛
