Are you Funday Games’ new game artist?
We usually respond within two weeks
We’re looking for an experienced game artist to join our journey at Funday - someone who’s excited about crafting great games and being part of a creative, collaborative team. If that sounds like something you’d be up for, we’re already off to a pretty good start.
At Funday, we care deeply about making games that feel good to play and fun to make. As a game artist here, you’ll help bring worlds to life, shape visual identities, and collaborate closely across disciplines to build something we can all be proud of.
What you will be working on:
Things are moving fast in Funday, and we’re on the lookout for a game art generalist who wants to be a big part of developing our games. You'll be working with pretty much all aspects of the art pipeline - while collaborating closely with your Art Lead and team. This will require you to not only have a confident technical and disciplinary foundation, but also to have some experience developing games.
As an artist at Funday your job will include tasks such as:
Help shape vague ideas into concrete concepts to help the team align on the game direction.
Creating original 3D content, ranging from simple assets to full-fledged environments.
Model, sculpture and texture environment assets, props and characters.
Working with rigging, shading, and lighting.
Implement, configure and improve your work directly in the Unity game engine.
Collaborate with team members of other disciplines to make needed adjustments to the production pipeline and art assets.
Who you are:
We are looking for an artist who is eager to work with games (primarily PC/console) and who has experience and a proven track record for doing so.
Professionally, you:
Have a strong portfolio that showcases your work with concepting, 3D modeling, sculpting and texturing.
Have a strong sense of design, scene composition and visual storytelling, with a good eye for lighting, color and detail.
Have experience with Blender, Substance Painter, Maya or similar tools.
Are proficient with rigging and the more technical aspects of node-based shader work.
Have experience as lead artist or similarly relevant experience setting direction, communicating, reviewing, orchestrating, etc..
Are comfortable with setting and maintaining the art direction for a project.
Are used to working directly in Unity, and know your way around the engine.
Generally find it easy to adapt to new tools and techniques..
On a more personal level, you:
Are passionate about game development and know how to visually engage users.
Are kind, a team player and truly believe that two minds are better than one
Communicate easily with all types of people and professions.
Have the drive to collaborate, innovate and learn.
Work systematically and structured while maintaining an agile process.
Aim for excellence in all aspects of your work.
Thrive in a growing business with a flatter hierarchy and room for slip-ups.
What we offer:
We offer you a full time job with lots of opportunities for taking on responsibility and challenges in a company where two days aren’t the same. At Funday, we have a hybrid setup which makes it possible to work from home up to three days a week - the other two will be at our office in Aarhus. If you live far away from Aarhus, remote work is also a possibility - we just really like it when we’re all together.
We offer six weeks paid holiday annually, health insurance and different social events throughout the year. Furthermore we cover simple day to day needs like great lunch, fruit, snacks and loads of coffee as well as a creative work environment with the most awesome people.
Who we are:
Funday Games is an experienced games studio based in the heart of Aarhus trusted by partners like Ghost Ship Games, SYBO Games, Apple and many more. We are 50 digital savvy people specialised in games, engagement and digital experiences.
Our four core values — think big, stay curious, have fun, and be kind — are at the heart of who we are at Funday. They shape both our strategic direction and our daily interactions at the office. That’s why it’s important for us to find a new colleague who not only brings strong skills, but who also connects with these values and wants to help us nurture them in everything we do.
At Funday, we go to work to produce the greatest games of the highest possible quality - always with our players in the driver's seat. But that’s only half the reason. We go to work to have fun. A lot of fun so if you like informal environments filled with creative and technical expertise - and where slippers and Star Wars t-shirts are much more common than suits and ties, you’ll fit right in.
Finally, if you can slightly see yourself in this role – we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need to tick every single box. At Funday, we care deeply about building diverse, inclusive teams where different perspectives and backgrounds are valued and welcomed.
So don’t hesitate – send us your application, even if you’re not sure you’re “exactly right.” You just might be the person we didn’t know we needed yet 💛
